I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ALDI (Cincinnati, OH) in Sep 2012
Interview
Applied through Careerbuilder. Got an email a few days later from the DM in my area telling me to go to a specific store to fill out a paper application. I did that, then had a mini interview with the Store Manager and a quick store walkthrough. Got called a few days after that by the DM to set up an interview. He pretty much just asked why I would want to work at Aldi, and what I knew about the company. He did seem very pleased that I told him I wanted to work my way up to management. He said he would be calling within a week if I made it to the next round of interviews. He called two days later for another interview, and I went in the next day. He told me that he was offering me the position, filled out forms for background check and ordered shirts, and then I left to take my drug test. The whole process took maybe 2 weeks? All I am waiting on now is my results to come back and I start as soon as they are in.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They seemed to put a lot of emphasis on questions relating to drug/background. He asked me at least 3 times if anything would come back on my background check, and if I had ever done drugs-even in high school. Almost like he was trying t get me to crack under pressure, which wasn't going to happen as I have nothing to hide. I thought it a bit strange to be asked over and over about it.
I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at ALDI (Springfield, MO) in Mar 2008
Interview
Honestly do not recall the exact interview process, it has been over 15 years. I do know that they do several interviews now per person. Employees are not hired at a store level. District managers who over see several stores do all of the hiring. There is normally an add ran in a local paper and a hiring fair is sometimes held. Applications are hand picked from this process. Some hiring by employee referral is done at each store.
