I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Goodwill (Portland, OR) in Mar 2014
Interview
I went in when they were remodeling a store and it was hectic. I gave the manager my application. a day later they called me saying that I had an interview three days from that day. I went to the interview and they asked me basic questions. After that I went home and they called me the same day saying that I had a second interview the next day, I went to that and they asked me the exact same questions and a few new ones. Then they gave me a basic math test for cashiering and to get the drug test. After the drug test went through I went to the day long paid orientation that lasted 6 hours, and the next day I went to the cashier training. Then a few days later I started the job.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Goodwill in Aug 2015
Interview
It was pretty laid back. The lady who did my interview was very nice. I applied on Monday and she called Wednesday to set up and interview for Thursday, got offered the position on Sunday. She asked about my work history and if I thought I could do it. She showed me around and that was about it.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Goodwill (Indianapolis, IN) in Apr 2013
Interview
The interview process is very casual. They ask you the generic interview questions, and really no matter what you say they pretty much hire you. They hire almost anyone. It's part of their company value to give everyone a chance.
You would have to be late, or rude in order for them to turn you down. They have to fill out online forms when they decide not to hire someone saying why they didn't, and most of the managers are too lazy to do that so they pretty much have already decided to hire you once they call you in for an interview.
