Interview
Process took 2 months from application to job.
Applied online and didn't receive any response for a while. Then when I finally received a response it was a call asking me to attend an interview in two days time. I accepted the interview, and had a large group discussion surrounded by a group of managers. We all had to introduce ourselves with a 'interesting' fact (most people said they liked football or some other sport). After that, there was effectively a 'free-for-all' where it was everyone for themselves, in which a question was asked, and the first person to shout out their answer was the one most likely to receive the job. This is the stage in the interview where you want your voice to be heard so you can stand out amongst the other people there. My interview consisted of two adults who were completely illiterate. A couple of very young adults who had just finished high school, and people who appeared to have forced by their parents to attend. You can get fairly lucky with who you get put with, if you get a quiet lot of people, then you're far more likely to get the job.
After all the standard customer service based questions, there was a group activity. One of those 'build a tower' activities, albeit stacking pieces of paper with tape and seeing how high you can get it. Speak out at this point and you'll most likely get the job, even if what you're saying is total nonsense.
Following the activity, the group was sent out, and then called in one by one for an 'individual' interview. When I say individual interview, I mean a talk with a manager where you effectively say 'yes' to every question in order to get the job. Mostly questions related to availability, overtime and holidays,.

Interview
I applied online and got a call for an interview about 3 weeks later. At the interview I spent 10 minutes talking to one employee about the general tasks that would be expected of me when working on the shop floor. I then spent another 10 minutes with another employee at the tills. After that I was asked a few basic interview questions. Finally, myself and another interviewee were given a task to build a 6ft paper tower.
