Pros

There still are some great folks from legacy real companies like Morrison Knudsen, Stearns-Rodgers, EBASCO Services, United Engineers and Constructors, Washington Group, Westinghouse Government Services, URS, and Others.

Cons

The battered folks from the acquired companies keep leaving, and AECOM is managed by accountants who do not care for the operations work of producing product (design and building), nor do they have any idea of how the real work is done. They are squooshing everyone, including very senior managers who have long had walled offices, into mini-cubes where you cannot lay out a drawing, cannot have a reference book, and are told by know-nothing space planners who have no idea about our work and how we do it that it is all on the web, a big lie. Corporate facilities will show a measurable cost savings, but much more is lost but can't be measured, to work process inefficiency. They think good engineering can be done in a call center environment where they need to generate white noise to control background sounds..

Pros

Being a large company, it has the leverage to gain the more prestigious projects all over the world.

Cons

Too much management, levels of management, procedures, policies, paperwork, but overall ONLY FOCUS ON PROFIT. They forget that profit comes from staff creating deliverable. There is zero attention to morale and developing a better product. The CEO is an accountant and runs the company like an accounting firm. I liken AECOM to the fictitious mega-corporations of movies and video games like OCP of RoboCop, Weyland Yutani of Alien, Umbrella Corporation of Resident Evil, and Cyberdyne Systems from Terminator where the only focus is profit at expense of everything else, including those who help make the profit. Every empire in history fails. AECOM will have its day.

Pros

Large Company with deep talent if you can find it. Vast company resources and strong media for employees. Networking and leveraging is essential, but takes time.

Cons

Merger with URS was not as smooth as it should have been. Managers were let go that should have been kept, and integration of the various business lines did not create the desired coordination.
