Pros

- Good medical benefits - Really smart people at the firm - Unlimited time off

Cons

- You are treated by your hierarchy level (Analyst > Associate > Vice President > Director > Managing Director) rather than as a human and employee of the company. Most analysts are snobbed/ treated as unimportant because of their level. - BlackRock gives multiple trainings to People Managers but most of them are still toxic. Had many folks leave due to this and that was the main reason I left. - Long work hours cause you are are salary based and not hourly based. You find yourself working about 13hours everyday and some teams would ask for more. - You’re given unlimited time off but rarely allowed to use it cause there is always SOO much work to do. - Huge politics in promotion and growing your career at the firm.

Pros

Fair compensation. Decent benefits. Reputable company to have on one's resume.

Cons

As political, bureaucratic, cutthroat as it gets for a single company . The widely publicized attempts at improving diversity are all lip service. I work in a department in which not a single person of color was promoted in two years. As for work life balance, Blackrock culture encourages you to work to the bone so they can profit off what remains. Unlimited time off is merely a selling point that employees are terrified to ever use. They preach a meritocracy based system, but that is from the case.

Pros

Great health benefits, retirement contributions, flexible time off

Cons

- Deeply rooted institutional racism that prevents black and brown communities from achieving success - Culture of favoritism - reminiscent of “in/out” crowd behavior that favors compliant white employees - Not a meritocracy - Extreme lack of trust and over indulgence on micromanagement. - HR does not adopt any of the policies / recommendations it pushes out to the business. - Below market pay - Fully aware of issues with no action plan to remedy RUN
