Pros

Tuition reimbursement, good benefits after a year

Cons

Never seen a place lose people so quick. Worked there for a year and there understaffed the whole time I've been there. Only management can have there phones so they consistently finding new places to look at them. The worst workers get the best jobs because they can't handle physical labor. There is no training what so ever. Have yet to see any one get promoted. They pretend to have safety meetings and make you feel obligated to sign a piece of paper saying you went to one. Managers think staring at you is effective way to get you to move quickly.

Pros

I actually like some of the people I work with

Cons

Everything else. This company pays Lip Service to safety and customer quality levels because they do everything they can do increase productivity levels even at the cost of the other two. While i don't mind some hard work and I don't mind working in the cold or if they had me stay over longer, that's fine. But, there is a line between hard work and abuse. Fed-Ex often crosses the line into abuse of it's package handler employees and abuse of customer packages as well. They routinely will take employees off loading a truck and move them off somewhere else because they do not have enough employees. When they do this, no one attends the customer packages still coming into the truck. As you can imagine, the packages will get ripped up by their conveyor belt system since no one is actually there to accept them. I was called off one truck and not three minutes later the entire system at that truck was backed up and they had me go back down. By that time, there were multiple packages literally torn apart that had their contents spread all over the vehicle. Even if the employee wanted to try to collect these materials, Fed-Ex does not allow the time to do it. When judging worker performance, they only judge package scans per hour because they're too stupid to figure out another way to do it apparently. So, this automatically leaves out any time spent to fix the packages they've mangled or anything else they have you do which doesn't involve scanning packages (even if they told you to do this other job). Fed-Ex definitely does not seem to retain the sharpest crayons in the box. If you receive a mutilated package from Fed-Ex, chances are good it was ripped apart by their conveyor belt system as they left the packages unattended.to be destroyed in the name of productivity. Some of the management there are extremely rude. I've never actually meet managers before as rude as the ones at Fed-Ex. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and consider that their bosses are rude as well, it would sure fit this company. Some of the other reviews are dead-on accurate. If the managers are not complaining about one thing, they complain about something else. They complain about your scans per hour, then they turn around and complain about quality, then they complain about the mangled packages they are directly responsible for. They will try to sell you this job as a paid workout. As an anatomy student, I can tell you the type of work out you get at Fed-Ex is not healthy. The repetitive, heavy and fast impacts over hours at a time will destroy your joints - mainly in your elbows. I'll leave you with this, When I arrived at Fed-EX on my first day, In the parking lot a driver who had just gotten off work tried to convince me to work somewhere else. Right after this, I heard the security guard say "Here comes another group, they just can't keep anyone." Well, when you abuse people I guess they will leave. This company doesn't deserve to have any package handler employees. As I am getting ready to leave, I will not do business with Fed-EX as a customer in the future. If I have an option, it will be USPS from now on.
