Pros

They give you a raise constantly for the first year. After that it is every year.

Cons

They give you less than five hours a day. As soon as everyone unloads the trailers you are free to go.

Pros

Great people in a team-oriented environment. I spent 25 years there, and learned invaluable skills that have served me well since I left. I was generally happy with the managers I worked for, and the culture was people-friendly, fast-paced, and fun. From a work standpoint, there were always interesting, challenging projects that kept me interested and engaged. We weren't afraid to push the envelope on technology, and most of the time I could see how my efforts contributed to the bottom line. Over the years, I developed a wonderful network of professional associates and friends, and will always value my time at Fedex.

Cons

Fedex is BIG, and the challenges of managing that size of organization has led to an over-reliance on rules and procedures that tend to hider productivity and innovation. More and more, it is losing the ability to respond to market pressures and opportunities in a timely fashion. Additionally, the company has lost the managerial edge that propelled its success in early years. They have acquired a glut of mid-level corporate survivors who rely more on preserving the status-quo than taking the risks necessary for competitive success. From an employee standpoint, a job at Fedex is not as secure as it once was. While they formerly had a no-layoff policy, they have abandoned it. Layoffs aren't frequent, but they are now part of the Fedex culture, with the attendant effects on morale.

Pros

Never had a lay off. Decent pay for coming out of college and great benefits.

Cons

FedEx doesnt care about it's people. From the independent contractors, managers, to part time package handlers. The goals go up every year (or six months) while nothing changes to make the job easier. Usually in a production enviroment goals rise as new technology is introduced to make the job easier. I feel bad they way FedEx makes us treat our part time workers by working them as hard as we can then telling them to get OFF THE CLOCK. The work is back breaking, fast paced, and very dirty. As for the independent contractors, FedEx has this ingenious way of making them bear all the burden of owning a business and taking on all cost of fuel and maintenance. They are supposed to just deliver and pick up packages, but almost all of them have to either LOAD or HELP LOAD their van each and every morning.
