Good Place to Work in Good Times

Pros

Great benefits, competitive pay, flexible schedules. In good times, they really are a great place to work.

Cons

- Flexible schedule doesn't mean you don't work extra hours, you just have more say in how to split it up. You will be working round the clock if you don't have a supportive manager to push back for you. - Very hierarchical - decisions and information is shared depending on job level, not job responsibilities. If you are a manager running a project, you are not included in conversations that impact your work. Even at Director and above, autonomy in satellite regions are limited if you have a manager elsewhere. - Very US-centric. Standards and policies are all very focused on US customs even if they make no sense in the region. - Poor crisis management and communication. COVID has really hit the company hard and they have not lived up to their best places to work reputation. Whilst it is understandable that they were blindsided as everyone was, senior management should have focused more on internal comms than external comms.

Pros

Very flexible work hours. Freedom to make calls on your own. Leadership listens to you and values your opinions. You get to work on some great projects that are used by millions of users.

Cons

Hilton's Corporate structure is slowly changing from a hospitality company to a tech company. There are some growing pains.

Pros

Share some of the best reasons to work for Hilton? Sorry. Can't think of any.

Cons

This is my second time around at Hilton, and why I ever thought that a leopard would change it's spots is beyond me! They will lie to you, worse than a used car salesman. And once you've onboarded, all of a sudden, they change the story. They lie about schedules, they lie about time off, they lie about wages, and worst of all, they lie about job duties. They tell you it's customer service, which is about the furthest thing from the truth. It's sales. Commissioned sales. And if you don't reach their sales goals, they take away your preferred schedule. Which means, if you have children or other responsibilities, they will come in second. They also ask you to not tell the guests calling to make a reservation that you are not on property. Another lie, albeit of omission. They don't want folks to know that every call is counted in your metrics. If you don't book a room on that call, your metrics start to fall. So that person who just wants a little information dings your numbers, and can be treated with less care than someone who wants to book even just one room. ***Note*** The location below is incorrect. Hilton now has many agents, like myself, who work at home. But glassdoor's system insists on a location so I used Dallas, as that is where there headquarters are.
