Pros

fulfillment from assisting refugees achieve their goals

Cons

Career growth is grandfathered in - the longer you have been there, the higher your chances of being promoted, most managers are underqualified but become managers because of grandfathering in, lots of inappropriate conduct between managers and program staff; management self promotes and salary discrepancies are quite obvious

Pros

Welcoming environment. Got to work with a small group of passionate and driven people, who really cared about the work they do. You could get a lot of hands-on experience with the community you are trying to help depending on your specific position/ department.

Cons

Internship is unpaid. As a non-profit that depends on help from volunteers and interns for their projects and work, there will be lots of interns/volunteers coming in and out with less continuity.
