Pros

The name can look good on your CV

Cons

My time at J.P. Morgan was deeply disappointing. Despite the prestige often associated with the company, the reality on the ground was quite different. Promotions were rare, and not based on merit. High-performing individuals were consistently overlooked, while favoritism played a clear and troubling role in recognition and rewards. It was not uncommon to see employees with the same performance ratings receiving vastly different bonuses, depending on their relationship with management. The work environment was demoralizing. Long hours were the norm, with little to no appreciation shown for the effort put in. Salaries were notably below market rates, making it hard to justify the demands placed on employees. One of the most frustrating aspects was the disconnect between management and day-to-day operations. Key decisions were made by individuals who lacked a clear understanding of BAU (business as usual) activities, leading to inefficiencies and avoidable disruptions. The office location is inconvenient and lacks even basic amenities, yet there is a strict five-day in-office policy. This lack of flexibility, paired with the poor conditions, contributes heavily to employee dissatisfaction. Turnover was alarmingly high — in my team alone, 10 people left within a span of three months. This level of attrition speaks volumes about the culture and overall morale. In short, my experience at J.P. Morgan was one of disillusionment. If you're considering a role here, especially in this particular location or team, proceed with caution. It is not an environment conducive to growth, recognition, or well-being.

Cons

1- you’re working with a Indian clique 2- very toxic work atmosphere 3- facility is just like a prison no cup no utensils no napkins nothing in break room you’re a number who even doesn’t have a constant desk 4- many H1 visa useless developers are working for company as a contractor from India because of networking where as we have many good developers who don’t have job in USA 5- the managers for tech is Indian and all the politics are around being as a part of the tribe or not. 6- all the projects are done by a bunch of Indian students offshore and there is no chance for job growth and learning 7- no appreciation for the people who are not Indian but a good contributor and it’s open with a high salary and wasting money for Indians 8- organization is suck's. There is no agile system. Everything is so messy 9- no respect 10- CIB is so horrible exactly like you are working in an Indian clique . So high salaries for doing nothing with a great presentation.

Pros

Good pay, decent benefits, opportunity for career advancement

Cons

Worst culture I’ve experienced in the corporate world. Technology is far behind modern times and hurts growth as a developer and ability to improve system performance. Upper management uses statistics like number of commits and Agile story points to track your performance and will have your manager pull you into an office to scold you privately if your commits or story points are too low. These statistic tracking punish teamwork and promote selfish individualism instead. The culture is very stressful as a result and everyone is more worried about meeting their statistic quota than team success. The culture is life draining and destroyed a lot of my passion for software development while I was there.
