Pros

Just that the lunch is ok, but will you sacrifice your career or life just for the lunch?

Cons

There is a lot of technical debt, and they ask new engineers to "patch it for them" in an unreasonable amount of time. Also, there is this culture of holding the company hostage so that they cannot be fired, by withholding information, passing everything by word of mouth, not writing anything down, no specs, no design docs, almost no comments in code. This is called "to secure the paycheck". Avoid this company at all costs.

Pros

Continuing to be able to WFH alleviates a few stressors with the current market. A solid product that is highly recommended when it is available.

Cons

There has been a huge shift in the culture and care for employees. Care Deeply is supposed to be a value of Meraki, yet there are jokes made about the lack of inventory available to our customers. This has led to sales reps becoming support reps, and crisis management reps, asking (begging) our customers to just wait it out. We are also not being paid commissions in this time, and we are not being given any valid alternatives. The teamwork and culture of community has also taken a huge dive over the past year. ELT is trying to convince us this is best time in career, yet when asked how they will help us battle inflation we are told to hit accelerators on unrealistic goals, some having 100-200% goal increases YoY.

Pros

Great product, easy to sell, not the hardest job in the world. Good work/life balance and flexibility with remote/hybrid work.

Cons

Meraki used to be a very special place within Cisco. We were living in our own little bubble of culture before Cisco leadership came in and wiped that all out. There is a huge disconnect in communication between senior leadership and direct sellers. We are all having a challenging year due to global economics/supply chain constraints, but our ELT just dusts that under the rug by yelling generic enthusiastic sales slogans at us. "WE WILL WIN!" does very little to help us navigate the uncharted waters of the current environment. Tons of change as we finally get fully merged into the Cisco sales motion. It's hard to see this happen to a company that I have loved for so many years. Burnout is very high and so is attrition whether or not upper management is willing to admit that, it's true. Unrealistic goals are also discouraging as reps push themselves to the limit to hit sky high quotas. 20% YoY growth is not a sustainable trajectory, regardless of how well a region does in a given year. It is impossible to reproduce that success year over year over year. Recognize the breaking point. Lack of funds for in-person events has also put significant strain on team collaboration and sense of community.

Meraki Response

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We agree our product is one of the best in the market, and our hybrid work model offers flexibility to meet our employees' needs while providing work-life balance. Regarding the rest of your feedback, we are disappointed to hear about your experience. The current global supply chain issues have certainly created some challenges for us. Despite these challenges, our sales team has been incredibly resilient. While these times can bring on a lot of stress, every employee’s well-being comes first. We want to ensure everyone at Meraki feels supported and heard if they are having a difficult time. We will share your feedback with leadership and encourage you to reach out to your People & Communities partner to share your experience. Thank you again for taking the time to reach out. Feedback can only help us get better and stronger as we work to create the best experience possible.
