Pros

Absolutely nothing positive to say about Etrade or Morgan Stanley. Abysmal pay, broken promises, no future except if you enjoy taking endless phone calls from miserable clients. Soon there will be threats and repercussions if you don’t generate enough leads that you don’t get paid on.

Cons

I could write a novel as long as War and Peace on the negatives but not going to. Everything regarding compensation, future promotions, benefits is a lie. There is nothing positive about working at Etrade. Now people will read this and still accept a job offer and guaranteed will remember reading this post after of month of torture. Stay away!!

Pros

No one in this role was laid off due to COVID. Benefits start on day one. Over time is offered. Training is paid. Trainers do a great job veiling how mundane the work is going to be.

Cons

It is nonstop customer service. No room for growth. You can be promoted only to other customer service roles which are lateral moves. You learn almost nothing new after your training. You have to talk to frustrated people who either think they know everything or know absolutely nothing, about any complex topic. The system will glitch almost daily and customers will put you through the ringer about it. Expect to hear "This is ridiculous!" multiple times a day. You will be talked down to regularly. Turnover is high. They expect you to burn out. Micromanagement is at OCD levels. Every second of the day must be accounted for. In the bathroom too long? Expect to come back to an e-mail. Your income opportunities outside of the job are also limited. If you babysit or work a part time job on weekends you have to report it to them and they can deny you the right to do it. You are expected to pitch financial advisor services. More emphasis is placed on this metric than anything else. It is the stereotypical 9-5. Everyday is the same. Cubicles. Endless e-mails. Phone rings the entire day. Fluorescent lighting. Come here to let your dreams die a slow death.

Pros

You can wear jeans in the Baltimore office. Oh, and they do allow you to volunteer once a year and still get paid for the day.

Cons

This is the most oppressive workplace I have ever worked at - GFC is insanely political and there is absolutely 0 chance for promotion. I have been employed here for three years as entry-level, busting my butt and have not been promoted. The worst part is they have no logical reason. Also, you hardly get a raise, if you even get a raise at all. The management teams are like cliques and you need to do as you're told and not ask any questions at all that they don't like. I can't speak to the other departments within this firm, but as far as Global Financial Crimes goes - stay away.
