Pros

Depending on the team you work with you could be in a great team with good problems. If your face fits you are in.

Cons

Management tend to promote problems because it's almost impossible to get rid of bad staff. Recruitment is a mess. It's always "jobs for the boys", if management know who is applying they help with application forms and massage the points scored to ensure their preferred person gets through.

- Currently the only way to work as a doctor in the UK, so doctors are dependent on the NHS for training

Cons

- Very poorly paid for doctors - Incredibly long training programmes, in comparison to other developed countries

Lovely job for introverts if you're not squeamish, good steady routine with some flexibility, busy for workload but can work away steadily and quietly, hardly any meetings/emails etc. Suits me

The pay is poor at the lower levels and it takes a long time to progress
