Pros

The pro's at this particular office are the people. The employee's are all very smart, very ambitious, willing to learn, listen, and communicate with each other. The firm itself provides a great opportunity for the employees to grow, and the managers and partners have the staffs best interest in mind, as they are always looking to provide chances for the staff to prove their worth. As the firm is a mid-sized firm, you are provided the opportunity to work on a number of different engagements, which provides staff with a good chance to work on different sections besides the normal cash and fixed assets. The senior staff will challenge you to think and learn as your are a young staff often working in small teams of 2 or 3. The small teams provide a close-ness in the office, as you spend the majority of your day working together with a small staff. Our office gets along well with each other, and we have the resources from being a national firm, while also being able to know each other on a personal level. The firm sponsers softball teams, habitat for humanity, and other events that help team building. The promotion chain is pretty straight-forward based on your audit experience, although for those who excel, it will not go unnoticed. Overall, the firm is a great place to launch your career.

Cons

There are some cons to this career, the months of January - April aren't much fun, the work is stressful, the hours are long, and you will be expected to work on Saturdays. This does help the winter months fly by, but it also cuts into your work-life. The company is much more flexible in the summer, which is a positive. Another negative is the stress put on your billable hours, which at the staff level is often out of your control, but this can be overlooked from above who just look at the hours and not the overall quality of work each individual puts forth. These are not huge negatives, and both will be found at virtually every national accounting firm, it just goes with the territory, so it's not necessarily a knock on this particular office.

Pros

This place knows how to treat its employees and what is needed to further enchance the company's growth. Company knows how to deal with its clients.

Cons

The hours can be a little too much during busy season but compared to the Big 4, its not as bad.

Pros

Not as stressful as Big Four. There is a better work-life balance, but not as much as you may think. The hours are still long, but the people I work with make them fairly enjoyable. Good people is the main reason why I have stayed with McGladrey.

Cons

Like I said, the work-life balance could be better. Also, from the day I was hired, I felt like there wasn't very much guidance in the firm.
