Pros

Benefits are great, certain partners are amazing

Cons

The culture in certain organizations of the company are toxic. People have gotten away with treating support staff and individual contributors so poorly that is has almost become a permanent state if mind. Problem people are not dealt with. They are given too many chances even when they have shown no changes in quilling their dismissive, discriminatory and condescending behavior. These single point of failure people seem to be kept around because of their tribal knowledge at the expense of moral and growing talent. The sense of cross team collaboration is an illusion with in an org. Management does things behind employees backs like forcing someone to backfill a role but if that role takes more than 6 months to fill that person can lose their position so now that person is out of a job. People will get moved in project roles or special positions and a month later it's suddenly been eliminated. People in leadership roles will just spend money on subscriptions and products without consulting finance or senior leaders leaving money tied up for years and no room to grow talent

Pros

The benefits are good, but not all benefits are helpful to everyone, ie college reimbursement. You will be sold on "culture" but it's really more like a cult. There are many "feel good" speeches given by leaders but the truth is, working in the stores is no fun at all. Equipment and buildings are not repaired in a timely manner and customers are sold an illusion of "world class".

Cons

Unrealistic expectations are placed upon the employees. Store managers are over worked. This company attracts and hires people that do not fit in mainstream society. I feel like I am working in the land of misfits. Even though I recruit and hire better people, they do not stay. If you are not a liberal- move on. Also, many innovative and added benefits for the customer have been done at the expense of the employees, example: they added mobile order and pay options for the customer but no extra labor to execute it properly. The purpose was to eliminate the long wait but only caused the customer to be angry at the barista when they still had to wait. Also, they added many great food items but no additional freezer or refrigeration to allow for food sales growth; which is a metric you must meet.

Pros

To get a respected name on your resume. Tough out the endless political infighting. Ignore the blatant incompetence. Subdue your desire to affect any actual change and reap the rewards later in your career. Face it. People like Starbucks. No matter how ridiculous upper management it.

Cons

For a company so young it's amazing the amount of bureaucracy that has already built up. If you want to actually achieve anything, avoid this Seattle bureaucratic downturning company. Also, the magnitude of the missteps of capitol investments that have been made is significant.
