Pros

Opportunity for advancement. Executive Team Leaders can apparently become Store Team Leaders, who start at over $100k/year, within three or less years. The company is building new stores quickly and this creates numerous opportunities.

Cons

The work can be mundane so you better really enjoy retail!

Pros

You can advance quickly and most people change jobs every 2 year so its not boring. There is a lot of available movement in between different areas of the company: merchandising, finance, IT...

Cons

Definitly a cult of personality. Far to much weight is put on your personality and "bubbliness" versus your actual job skills. With so much movement between pyramids, many managers don't have the technical skill sets for jobs they are given. Working at Target feels like being in middle school. People (even male managers) gossip constantly and there are mine fields of cliques to navigate. Be prepared that any feedback you give (personal or technical) will be turned around as a criticism of you. There is no black or white, only grey that you have to market yourself through.

Pros

Target is a fun, energetic, fast paced company with tons of young people. Probably the best reason to work for Target is the people you will encounter. Everyone is incredibly smart, talented, friendly and usually outgoing. The culture is also great, encouraging a fast yet friendly atmosphere. The culture is also very diverse and open to people of all backgrounds which is great. Depending on who you work for, you will usually have a flexible schedule with a great work/life balance. Another great reason to work for Target is the amount of time and money they will invest in your personal development. They want you to succeed and they will do what they can to make sure you do.

Cons

With such a large organization, it can be difficult to navigate through all the politics that go hand-in-hand with an organization this size. It can be pretty difficult for people in hourly positions to get promoted into a position with a salary.
