Wash Your Hands. But come to work.

Pros

They sometimes remind employees to Wash our hands. They pay well, using the money earned by staying open during a worldwide pandemic.

Cons

Leadership has not sent ANY helpful communications to the employees during this extremely unsettling time, except reminding us to wash our hands. Transparency is non existent. Common areas remain open, the business remains open, and employees are expected to come to the office despite worries about personal safety. Leadership seems to be turning a blind eye to government and CDC concerns and recommendations. Company is focused on sales and fulfilling orders - it seems the almighty dollar is much more important than the endless employee complaints and cries for action. Customer feedback is scoured for actionable suggestions, but the people processing the orders from cubicle packed buildings are ignored. I wish I could negatively rate Uline for values right now.

The "Best Company Ever" vibe wears off

Pros

First off, I was in your shoes two years ago, reading reviews on this company, thinking the bad ones were disgruntled employees who got fired and I overlooked them. DO NOT OVERLOOK THE BAD REVIEWS! They are true! Uline is very good at promoting their good pay and benefits for entry level positions and they try to cover up everything that happens inside the four walls. The only thing I can confidently say is a pro about Uline, is that they are organized and are very good at training you for your role. They also bring in free food often. Donuts and Chick-Fil-A do not make up for being miserable every day.

Cons

Management. I ended up leaving due to poor management. Managers have their preferred employees and if you are not one of them, don't even think about giving your opinion or speaking up with an idea. I was chased out by a single employee who thought they were better than everyone and would do anything in their power to get you fired. I mentioned multiple instances where this employee was in the wrong to management and they stated they would talk to them and follow up. They never followed up. The employee would weasel their way out of getting in trouble and try to spin it so they weren't in the wrong. Management likes to stand around and not help with any of the work. They are lazy and do not care because they know they have hard workers that won't say anything in fear they are going to get fired. I stayed for two and half years and most of that time I would come into work fearing that I was going to get fired every day, even though I worked my butt off every day and did a lot of the work for my team. There is no room for advancement in most departments. Most job ads are fake and they make up excuses as to why you cannot apply.

Thank you for sharing your personal experience. We might employ nearly 6,000 employees across North America, but at Uline we strive to make each one of our team members feel like a part of the family. Though it is one of our goals to push the limits of your potential, our intention was certainly not to push you away from the company. When employees feel stuck, we strongly encourage them to discuss their concerns with management, or bring concerns to HR. We can assure you that we are actively hiring for all our posted jobs. Our advertising and recruitment team work hard everyday to bring in the best talent possible.

Pros

- Great benefits. - Decent compensation. - Successful company.

Cons

- Extreme lack of diversity in most senior leadership positions, especially at the VP and Branch Manager level. - Husband and wife are C.E.O. and president. They make the news often with their large political donations/contributions. Makes it a bit awkward to read about if you don’t agree with their politics. - Old school dress code is dated at best, if not outright sexist. - Random drug tests multiple times a month shows the company does not trust their employees and are not with the times. - The company has been successful but the culture does not support creativity and outside of the box thinking. They expect you to conform, get in line, and learn the way things work. New ideas and innovation are not supported. This will keep the company from ever reaching full potential. - President of company reviews and approves each and every internal decision. This doesn’t sound crazy at first but there have been lower level internal transfers that have been finalized that have been halted at the 11hour due to a the president deciding against it. It was always explained that “you have to catch her in a good mood.” That is just ridiculous and embarrassing for a company of this size.
