Pros

Good reputation and good to have on CV. Lovely Staff and used to have a great name in the industry but the reputation is being damaged due to change of senior managers and the replacements are not up to the job. They brought in Vanguard Consultancy to change the "System". Vanguard talk up a great storm but don't deliver.

Cons

Very difficult to work due to restructure into self managed Pods. Following the "Vanguard Method" - The Vanguard Consultants are a disaster. All talk and no delivery. No Self Management at all as decisions are handed down. The previous dedicated specialist back office teams have been dismantled and all mixed up into Pods. Pod members not listened to and we now have massive backlogs of work. There is no planning, absolutely no career path as everyone in on the same level but different salaries. No training provided but lots of work that you are not skilled to process. Senior Managers inept and keep changing the "plan". Pods being lead by "Coaches" (some of them are toxic and spend their time sucking up to Senior Managers who seem blind to the nonsense and lies of the toxic). Staff gagged by Vanguard who talk at you until you are brow beaten into submission and you have to agree (even if you know the plan they are proposing will not work). Given massive backlog, we now have to undertake an Pod Exercise on "Why Pods are better?". Really!!! So instead of doing the work, we will down tools to talk about the wonder of the Pod that has directly resulted in backlogs. Staff leaving all the time and we are losing their talent and experience - leading to larger backlogs as we cannot do the work without the training. Madness.

Pros

Nice employees (in general) People are helpful and friendly usually Good salaries Benefits are not bad Diverse nationalities Nice mix of ages and backgrounds

Cons

Too much politics Too many banker types Speaking your mind can be dangerous People sometimes step on each other Management unable to take criticism at times Not an obviously meritocratic organisation Grading system and salaries are a total mystery Little opportunity to develop unless you do it yourself Leadership vacuum No clear job security in recent years Bonus culture is corrosive Not a relaxed environment at all

Pros

Pay can be reasonable if negotiated well and early Ability to quickly change roles and expand experience in new functional areas Work life/balance is good

Cons

No annual cost of living pay rises - bonus is everything All about politics and who you know. No structured career path, HR very weak Hard to get anything changed, senior management are totally risk averse and ultra conservative - status quo rules
