The U.S. Mission in Mexico is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the Supervisory Non-Immigrant Visa Assistant in the Consular office.
The Nonimmigrant Visa (NIV) Team Lead oversees a broad range of supervisory consular duties to ensure the effective delivery of NIV services. The incumbent manages the unit’s workflow, prioritizes and delegates tasks, and provides guidance to subordinates on matters such as laws, standard operating procedures, and directives from the Senior NIV Local Staff Supervisor and U.S. Direct Hire (USDH) consular managers.
The job holder serves as one of the primary points of contact for U.S. citizens in the consular district and maintains a network of public and private sector contacts who may be able to assist U.S. citizens, visa applicants, host government officials, and other interested parties to provide the full range of Nonimmigrant Visa offered at Post.
The Consular Section operates on a rotational system, ensuring full integration of all portfolios within the NIV Unit. Each portfolio is managed by specialized teams that function either independently within the unit or collaboratively, depending on operational needs.
All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a security certificate. All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and may be subject to a pre-employment medical exam.
Selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) upon receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Two years of University Studies (50% of educational credits) or College Certificate.

Experience:
Must have at least three years of progressively responsible consular experience in substantive visa work with appropriate application of laws and regulations, or progressively responsible administrative experience, resolving customer service issues.

Language:
Fluent English and Spanish is required (this may be tested).
To meet the English and Spanish language requirement for this position:

If you meet the Education and Experience requirements and do not submit an English language test score (submission is optional), you may be scheduled for English language testing as part of the recruitment process. Skills And Abilities (these may be tested):
The incumbent must demonstrate intermediate proficiency in MS Word and Outlook, along with basic knowledge of the MS Office suite and Power Apps. The incumbent must possess the ability to analyze, interpret, and apply regulatory or legal information accurately, exercise sound judgment in evaluating evidence and supporting documents, and apply regulations correctly. Strong interpersonal skills are required to interact effectively with applicants, internal and external stakeholders, and contractors, while maintaining professionalism and tact.
