The EID Intern - Materials Laboratory Engineer will support research and development activities related to advanced turbomachinery materials, focusing on experimental analysis, material characterization, and laboratory operations. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a cutting-edge engineering environment.
Job Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and execution of various material testing experiments (e.g., mechanical testing, metallography, thermal analysis).
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data, contributing to research reports and presentations.
Support the development and optimization of new material processing techniques.
Collaborate with senior engineers and researchers on ongoing projects.
Maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
Participate in literature reviews to stay updated on advancements in materials science and engineering.
Document experimental procedures, results, and findings accurately and thoroughly.
Job Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Strong theoretical understanding of materials science principles, including metallurgy, material characterization techniques, and mechanical behavior of materials.
Familiarity with common laboratory equipment and testing methodologies.
Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., Excel, MATLAB, Python).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Prior experience in a research laboratory setting is a plus.
Knowledge of turbomachinery materials or high-temperature alloys is desirable but not required.
