Scout Solar MX is a remote solutions company and a subdivision of the company based in Tempe, AZ. We specialize in the design, engineering, and construction of commercial-grade solar systems.
In this role, you will work closely with the Operations Manager to support the coordination and execution of solar maintenance projects across multiple sites. This position is well-suited for a motivated Maintenance Engineer who is eager to grow professionally, strengthen their technical skills, and take on new challenges in the renewable energy industry.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as this role will involve coordinating with internal teams, vendors, contractors, and site representatives. The candidate should also be comfortable negotiating with vendors, organizing project details, tracking maintenance activities, and ensuring work is completed efficiently and professionally.
Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, renewable energies, mechatronics or a closely related field.

- Design, install, configure, and maintain communication systems used for PV array output monitoring across multiple solar sites.
- Set up, program, and troubleshoot Raspberry Pi devices and other edge-computing equipment used to collect, process, and transmit solar production data.
- Develop, modify, and maintain scripts or software tools to support monitoring, data collection, equipment communication, alerts, and reporting.
- Configure and maintain network equipment, including routers, switches, modems, gateways, data loggers, meters, and related communication hardware.
- Lay out communication equipment for PV systems, including identifying proper equipment locations, cable routing, connectivity requirements, enclosure placement, and power needs.
- Support the integration of monitoring hardware with inverters, meters, weather stations, and other solar system components.
- Troubleshoot communication failures, data gaps, device outages, and monitoring platform issues, both remotely and on-site as needed.
- Review system production data to identify abnormal performance, equipment issues, communication interruptions, or potential maintenance needs.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, utilities, and internal team members to resolve monitoring, networking, and system communication issues.
- Create and maintain documentation for site communication layouts, device configurations, IP addresses, login credentials, wiring diagrams, troubleshooting steps, and standard operating procedures.
- Assist with commissioning and testing of monitoring systems to confirm accurate data transmission and proper system visibility.
- Recommend improvements to monitoring infrastructure, automation tools, data collection processes, and site communication reliability.
- Ensure all communication and monitoring equipment is installed and maintained in accordance with company standards, site requirements, and applicable safety practices.
- Provide technical support to the Operations Manager and maintenance team regarding PV monitoring systems, communication equipment, and data-related issues.
