The Opportunity
FICO’s Private Cloud Services (PCS) team is seeking a Lead Engineer to join the Server Systems group — a team that combines a start-up-like approach to innovation with the stability of a market-leading company. In this role, you will manage, provision, and support FICO’s server and cloud environments, with a principal focus on Windows Server and Linux (Red Hat Enterprise) platforms hosted on VMware. You will lead operational security, compliance, and vulnerability management efforts while mentoring junior engineers and driving automation across the infrastructure. This is a hands-on technical leadership position operating in a 24/7 Production Operations environment.
What You’ll Contribute
-
Maintain, deploy, and support systems and services within FICO’s virtual and cloud enterprise, including VMware-hosted Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
-
Lead vulnerability management and server hardening efforts, including patch management via WSUS and Satellite Server, compliance scanning via Qualys, and remediation using Ansible.
-
Ensure deployment and health of host-based intrusion detection using Osquery, Splunk, and CrowdStrike.
-
Own incident resolution, problem management, and service requests through a structured change management process in a 24/7 Production Operations environment.
-
Design, develop, and deploy automation and scripting solutions to resolve operational problems, including supporting documentation and process changes.
-
Identify opportunities to develop automated compliance scripts for key systems such as Active Directory, Red Hat Identity Manager, CyberArk, PKI Certificates, and critical FICO products.
-
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers, acting as a local escalation point for operating systems and core services support.
-
Create and maintain policy, process, and procedure documentation, including run books, to support systems implementations and routine operational tasks.
What We’re Seeking
-
Demonstrated hands-on experience as a Lead Systems Engineer with deep expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux and/or Microsoft Windows Server operating systems (2016, 2019, 2022, 2025) and strong experience with VMware virtualization.
-
Proven experience in vulnerability and compliance management, including hands-on use of Qualys (or equivalent) for scanning, Satellite for Linux patching, and WSUS for Windows patching.
-
Strong familiarity with at least two audit standards such as SSAE16-SOC2, PCI DSS, HIPAA, or SOX, and experience providing evidence for compliance and internal audits.
-
Experience with Ansible deployments, configuration management, and Playbooks, with proficiency in at least one scripting language (Shell, Python, Ruby, or YAML).
-
Demonstrated experience with host-based intrusion detection tools (Osquery, Splunk, CrowdStrike) and familiarity with core services including LDAP, DNS, Active Directory, and NTP.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to document technical processes, develop run books, and coordinate with vendors and cross-functional teams.
-
Relevant certifications preferred: Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Microsoft Certified Systems Expert (MCSE), AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, and/or VMware Certified Associate. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology (or equivalent) is also preferred.
