Today's post marks the first post in our new Rockstar Recruiter Series. Every few weeks, we'll bring you interviews with rockstar recruiters from around the globe. Interested in being featured? Email us for more information. I’m impressed when a candidate: Does their research and is able to teach me something, either about HubSpot or the marketplace itself. I like when people speak to our Culture Code, bring personality, and show a bit of fun. As a candidate, your goal shouldn’t just be to know the basics; it should be to demonstrate that you can meaningfully impact the business. I’m impressed when a recruiter: Consistently hits their targets while using new, innovative sourcing techniques. These new (sometimes radical) tactics give a fresh approach to referrals or passive candidates, making them much more effective when interacting with potential candidates. I have been in the recruiting industry for: About 15 years now.

I know I’ve done a great job hiring when: The business is happy and I can see new hires excelling in their careers here at HubSpot. The biggest challenge recruiting candidates today is: Hiring great Dutch, German, and Nordic sales talent for our Dublin office. HubSpot is growing globally rapidly, and identifying marketers, sales reps, and support folks who can speak the language of key markets and of inbound marketing and sales is imperative for us. I stay cutting edge by: Reading quite a bit. Books like the Alliance by Reid Hoffman, Work Rules by Laszlo Bock, and others provide insight into company cultures across the globe. I also get a weekly dose of tech and recruitment content from LinkedIn, and am fortunate enough to hang out with some of the smartest people on the planet every day. In 2015, I’ll invest more efforts in: Attracting rising talent in sales in both our Dublin and Sydney offices. Specifically, we want to create a scalable model to attract, retain, and elevate recent college graduates and grow them into top sales leaders – HubSpot has a strong heritage in that space, so it’s something we’ll build on here in Dublin. Executives see employer branding and recruiting as: A strategic driver of the business, not a side thought. At HubSpot, recruiting is a top priority and a company-wide investment. Not only are we very interested in hiring the best talent – we want to ensure they succeed and thrive here. I use Glassdoor because: It’s a great way to keep on top of the sentiment around HubSpot’s employment brand, our competitors, and the industry itself. My success is most closely tied to: HubSpot’s amazing culture. You’d be surprised how many new hires refer to the Culture Code as one of their key reasons for joining HubSpot. If you haven’t already, you should definitely check it out. I could improve my reputation as a recruiter if I did this: For young recruiters, I encourage you to develop a reputation of consistently hitting your goals.  I also recommend joining some of the active associations or groups in your locale and participating in their meetings or events. Don’t just listen; take part.
