I had applied online and got a letter in the post offering me an interview a couple of weeks later. I did the group interview but unfortunately was not offered a subsequent interview. It was quite an enjoyable interview, felt low pressure because it was in a group. You do have to do some individual sum questions so brush up on your primary school maths. And Aldi will reimburse your travel expenses, which I thought was nice of them.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Part of the group interview was a survival exercise, ours was a bush fire. If you are in this situation and have an idea that has not been suggested (e.g. "full length clothes are most important owing to radiating heat") be sure and say it and try convince the group to prioritise your thing. The exercise isn't to prove you would actually survive the situation, it's just to show how you can convince others to see things your way.
I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at ALDI in Apr 2016
Interview
Awful experience. they do not even cover your transport expenses as all other big companies do. you go there for 2 hours, the interviewers are cold, not even one smile in the whole procedure, and are generally rude as if you are wasting their time. They did not even provide feedback after they told me i was unsuccessful. My worst experience of an assessment day until now.

Question 1
They ask you to do a presentation about a chosen topic (Layout of the store, staff, products etc)
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ALDI (Stafford, England) in Apr 2016
Interview
I filled in the online application and recieved an email inviting me to a one on one interview at the store I was applying for. I got several days and times that I could have chosen from. I attended my interview and didn't really get asked many questions, it was more along the lines of being told about the store, etc. I then recieved an email a week later to say that they didn't have a vacancy available for me, so I felt like it was a waste of my time.

Question 1
What is in the middle of the store?
How many promotion changes are there a week?
What did you notice at the front of the store?
