2 people interviewed me, one was to be my future manager, the other was a HR person. The manager went through my CV and questioned me in a rude & condescending manner, the HR person didnt say a word the whole 60 mins I was grilled.
After this I was to be left alone with a laptop running Visio, given a hypothetical business process, and was to map it out 'AS IS' in Visio, then recommend improvements. This exercise had a 60 min time limit. A tech person arrived with the laptop, and it took the 3 of them over 15 mins to get it online & working.
I was left on my own and began to review the imaginary process, something along the lines of claims from all over the world being dumped on one persons desk and then filing into different cabinets. 10 mins into my task the laptop shut down without warning and restarted with one of those massive 30,000 + updates Windows sometimes performs.
At this point I had to laugh at what an absolute waste of time the day turned out to be, and spent the remaining time limit applying for other jobs on my phone. The tech guy re-appeared when time was up, and to be fair he offered me another 60 mins when the updates were done to resit the test. I informed him that unfortunately I had to attend another appointment, but I would be absolutely delighted to try again if I got through to the second round.
The recruitment consultant called me on the bus home and I told him I was not interested in the job.
