Job posting started as a Remote (US) role. Initial phone screen with hiring manager was basically a full on interview with extensive questions in which he ended the call that it was still a remote position. Phone screen that was an interview was passed off to a recruiter who rescheduled 3x times. During this time the position was changed to a hybrid role (3x in person) expected per week. Amazon was willing to pay for relocation. Recruiter had zero idea anything about the position and asked a handful of questions down a list. They were so unaware but felt like they were making a no/go decision and was on a power trip. Made it to the 3rd phone call which was technically the "1st interview" per their standards again with the hiring manager. By this call the position had now changed to a fully onsite position. I opted to not move forward with additional interviews as when I applied it was a remote position. Amazon is trying to get as many people back to the Seattle office as they can but the hiring manager of the role did not even work locally / in-person. Recruiter told me the same salary for the role that was in the job posting but it was based on experience and she claimed almost no one is paid at the high point in the range. Role was interesting but the whole bait and switch on the location was a turn off. Interview process was absurdly long just to get to official 1st interview. three meetings, dozens of emails, etc.

Question 1
They ask you questions on AWS services and all computer science topics including networking, data analytics, storage among others.
Weird. Six or seven rounds, thought I did pretty great, most interviewers were good. I did not receive an offer and Amazon as a general rule does not provide feedback. Overall I don't think I'd give them another try, the interview process is too time consuming.
