I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (München, Bavaria) in Apr 2015
Interview
I had a phone interview with a recruiter, and a week later another phone interview with the hiring manager.
They send you prior to the interview some instructions about the structure of the interview (STAR structure). It was pretty easy in both phases, and the interviewers stuck to job related questions and to the company's leadership principles.
I wasn't selected for the job, which I discovered by looking at my online profile. Before checking my profile at amazon careers (I had forgotten that I had one) I had sent 2 emails about any feedback on the last interview, and I never got any response. I think it would have been decent at least to receive a notifying email, at the end both parties dedicated their time to the interviewing process.

Interview
The hiring and recruiting culture at Amazon is clearly designed to wear you down and weed you out during the interview process.
DO NOT demean yourself by even beginning the ridiculous interview process here. In addition, read how many horrible reviews there are about the work culture.
Sad, unbelievable, really that such a successful firm who 'lives and dies' by "the customer comes first", cares nothing about their employees.
Interviewer called 45 minutes late - I was shocked. It got worse from there - you will not experience an interview, you WILL be interrogated. No matter how much homework and preparation you do, you will not surface unscathed. Rude, arrogant, did nothing to sell ME on working for them. All around a very broken process.
I politely declined offers to move forward and feel that I truly dodged a bullet by maintaining my integrity and removing myself from their "process".
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What happened to your last job? The interviewer had clearly not reviewed my resume prior to calling me (late) - I'm a consultant, so nothing "happened" to my last job. The badgering continued with "well, what 'happened to you' that forced you into consulting"?? WHAT? Also, amazon asks questions that are absolutes, so if you don't answer a firm yes or no, they railroad you and talk over you and, well, it is simply the most unpleasant, disrespectful interview I have ever had and I have over 20 years of experience in my field. Run, don't walk, away if you feel somehow "lucky" that Amazon is interested in you. Run.

Interview
After applying on the Amazon Careers website, I have been contacted by phone. The interviewer was a member of the HR team and she asked me general questions regarding my CV, soft skills and my availability. 1-2 weeks later, they called again to fix another phone interview with the area manager. As scheduled, he called me and the interview was 50/50 about motivations and skills (analytical and logical) that I acquired at University or in other experiences.
