You get an initial call from the HR and they set up a date with you with an engineer who will do the primary review of your skill set. If your skill set interests you they will set another call where they will evaluate your technical skills in further detail. In my case after 2 interviews I got a call to discuss compensation. I was expecting an invite to go to Seattle for a rigorous personal interview but instead I got a compensation call. The phone interviews lasts for almost an hour...

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Jun 2016
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter and after that there were 2 rounds of phone interviews, followed by an onsite. Most technical questions were CCIE level BGP, OSPF and TCP questions. Lot of behavioral questions. BE ready to answer a lot of behavioral questions, do not forget to read their principles. Feel free to ask questions. They test you in every way possible. It will get frustrating but try to not get frustrated. They ask same questions again and again.
