I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Apple in Feb 2016
Interview
- Overview of general manufacturing knowledge with plastics, metals in terms of forming, machining, post-processing, cosmetic finishing, and coating techniques
- Overview of previous experience with regards to vendor interaction, project management and technical engineering analysis
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
- Name and describe a project you managed which involved direct management and interaction with a vendor and optimization of a manufacturing process critical to part design.
Very casual, seemed like a conversation trying to assess the knowledge and I answered all questions. The Manager interviewing was calm and simple. Seemed very interested in learning about my work than asking questions about what is needed
It went well. However, my background doesn't fit this position. The interviewer was friendly and everything moved quickly. My advice would be to be prepared before the interview; otherwise, you might not be able to answer some questions.
I have met with 10+ interviewers, meeting all cross functional team managers. The interview was based on not only technical questions but also covered a range of soft skill questions.
