I applied to the graduate programme with BDO, and heard back offering me an interview a few weeks later. They only had one slot available for me, and when I said I wouldn't be able to make it they hung up on the spot. Incredibly unprofessional and entirely to their own disadvantage when seeking to hire the best graduates. Ultimately, BDO is simply second tier to Big 4 firms. Some companies will only hire qualified accountants from the Big 4, and consider graduates from the smaller firms less capable. I have Big 4 internship experience, so only applied to BDO as a back up. The reason I couldn't make the interview was because I had 3 interviews with Big 4 firms that same day. BDO should be bending over backwards to try to get in quality graduates, not shirking them and being entirely unaccommodating. I would recommend going elsewhere if at all possible, however gaining the accountancy qualification should not be looked down on.
