I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Citi
Interview
It was a virtual interview on Zoom with two interviewers since it is a campus recruitment process. They asked me some behavioral questions and asked me about why ST, tell me about the markets.
I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Citi (San Francisco, CA) in Dec 2019
Interview
My interviewer called me 40 minutes AFTER our planned time, and he didn’t even acknowledge his tardiness or apologize. Moreover, he took offense of the fact that I mentioned diversity was a reason why I wanted to work at Citi. That is a HUGE red flag.
The first half of the interview went somewhat well - the interviewer asked basic questions “tell me about yourself,” “what type of experience do you have in investments,” “why San Francisco,” “what events in the next six months would you be cautious of for investment opportunities.” He then asked me “why citi” and somewhere in my answer, I mentioned diversity to which he asked if that was important to me. I responded “yes because the finance industry consists of at least 40% white men, so it’s great that Citi has more efforts in being diverse.” The percentage is actually 80%, but I couldn’t quite remember that during the interview. He then replied “huh well don’t you think that it’s because the overall population consists of 40% white men?” And before I even had the chance to reply, he said, “I was just curious. Anyway, who’s the CEO? ... “who’s the chairman of the Fed?” He responded in a snarky way to each response I had. He appeared to take offense of my diversity answer. That raises a huge concern within the company; perhaps Citi isn’t as diverse as they claim to be.
I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Citi (New York, NY) in Jan 2018
Interview
Had an initial phone call with a rep who was targetting our school. This interview consisted of basic market questions, questions about the fed and interest rates, etc. I was then given a second-round interview over the phone. Similar format and style questions. I was invited to a superday from there. 4 back to back 30 minute interviews. One of them including a case study. Overall experience was not too difficult however the case study you need to know your information for. There was one interview that was technicals, 2 that were fit, and one for the case study.
