I filled out a fairly detailed questionnaire to apply, along with submitting a resume and cover letter. About a week and a half later I received an email that they wanted to talk to me. I spoke with a member of the marketing team, which was a split between personality/hobbies/culture fit and questions about processes and my experience in product management. It lasted about 45 minutes.
A few days later, I received an email from a member of the engineering management team requesting that I complete an assignment in order to progress to the next steps. They ask that you spend 2-3 hours on defining how you research and prioritize a new feature, and then write out the requirements including a mock-up. I completed this and returned it within about 24 hours of receiving it and was told I would hear back by the next day at the latest.
A week later...I received a one line email thanking me for submitting the assignment and that the position had been filled. Total bait and switch to not even inform me that they had progressed so far with other candidates. Their interview pricess (as stated on the job posting) clearly outlined that after the take home assignment there would be FIVE more one hour interviews with various members of the company.
Don't waste your time. I'm not entirely convinced they aren't just looking for people to complete the assignment to help do work they really need to hire qualified candidates to complete. And if they did in fact hire a qualified product manager, the lack of visibility into the interview process should indicate that lack of visibility within the company, which is obviously disconcerting with a completely remote culture.
