Interview
Applied via stackoverflow.
The first interview was a cordial, efficient chat with an HR person on Skype. She talked pay (I'd rate salary as 'moderate'), the company culture, and probed about my preferences and who I am. She also explained exactly how the process would work.
A second "pair interview" was scheduled with two developers, also via Skype (since I was not in the Netherlands). We had a pleasant chat, although I questioned how engaged they were with my responses. It was very much a conversation, rather than a series of scripted questions, which I liked.
Third contact was the HR person telling me they weren't going to follow up for a third interview. The reason given was something along the lines of "we don't think you would enjoy working in our culture". Found the wording of that a tad presumptuous, but nevertheless the hiring process was made perfectly clear.

Interview
Basically you send a CV and a motivation letter and then you wait for them to consider your application. Waiting time is very long. They can contact you even months after you originally applied.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
You will be required to write an essay to explain your perspective on certain topics. You are given no indication as to what they are interested to see in the essay. It is more of a "surprise me" type of assignment. No real feedback will be given back on your work.
