I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Costco Wholesale
Interview
Relatively easy interview process for Costco. I applied online and received a call a week later asking to set up an interview time. My initial interview was with two front line supervisors and lasted about 10 minutes. After an initial interview, I had a followup interview on the spot with a manager, and subsequently hired (pending a drug test). After my drug test cleared, I had an orientation day scheduled which mainly focused on the company, etc...
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Basic front line customer service questions, such as "how do you handle pressure" or "how do you get along with people"
I applied through college or university. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Costco Wholesale (North Riverside, IL) in May 2015
Interview
The interview process was a surprise. A connection of mine setup an interview for me with Costco because I was a recent grad and had just received my Bachelors in Business Admin. I was told the position was for a "Manager in training." When I arrived I was told this was for the Front-End. Bummer, I know. With my experience and background I figured I was too good for this company. I slowly stood up and told the First Manager interviewing me "Thank you very much but this is not what I am looking for at the moment" and proceeded to walk out of the ware house. A few seconds later the same manager chased me down and said "Our other Manager would like to speak with you." So I met Marco, our warehouse AGM, and he said "I know this isn't what you expected but with your background I'm sure you'll move up in this company in no time." I trusted his theory and belief in me and pushed carts/assisted the front end. Did not complain and found a way to love my job and help each member in which the way that Costco's guidelines states. My 90-Day period had passed and applied for a Marketing position and was immediately given a try out. Best decision I have made so far in my life. Interacting with current/new members is my passion. Building relationships is what I am about and keeping members wanting to come back is my goal. Thank you Costco for creating this opportunity.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Name a time you dealt with a difficult customer and how did you it turn out? Name a time you were successful in a team based situation?
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Costco Wholesale (Gilroy, CA) in May 2013
Interview
Had a 3 part interview. The first interview combined the first 2. They asked the usual questions one might expect at a job interview (i.e. where do you see yourself in 5 years? explain a time where you had to react to a crisis, etc.). After the two, you get your drug test via cotton swab. If they call you back for the third part of the interview, you basically have the job. The third interview is with the General Manager of the warehouse and he/she will basically give you their philosophy and why they love Costco. They'll ask you if you have any questions during all three parts of the interview, and make sure you ask at least one question. Good luck!
