I was contacted by an FDM recruiter after he found my CV on Indeed. I hadn't heard of the company before but the role sounded interesting. We talked over the phone a few times and he asked about my skills and projects I had worked on. We also discussed the role and what it would involve. Eventually I was invited to an assessment day. The recruiter gave me a lot of info on what the day would involve, as well as potential interview questions. He also gave me a call and went over my answers to some of these questions and gave advice.
The assessment day itself was a lot more involved and thorough than I expected it to be. I was used to interviews lasting an hour max, but we were told this would take all day. There were about 8 of us being assessed for a variety of different roles, but it was made clear to us that there was no competition and that if we all did well we'd each get an offer. We watched a short presentation and had a chance to ask questions before moving on. The next stage was a series of three tests, each done on an iPad. One tested your knowledge of business and IT terms as well as some maths questions, the second was a venn diagram test and the third was a close reading type test. They weren't too difficult and there was plenty of time to complete them. After these tests we each had three interviews with different people, then a short tour of the building.
