I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at FedEx in Jan 2014
Interview
Semi-formal interview. Many questions about experience and ability to follow procedure. Managers are real people and do not intend to make the process stressful. If you can show a willingness and ability to show up for work and follow the rules most likely they will hire you. Though most hiring managers should be laid back you still need to dress in business casual clothing and be clean cut as you are dealing with customers and representing the company.
I was interviewed by 2 people. They were friendly and seamed laid back. I did not get the position. They said they had to make their decision by the end of the week, but I did not hear back from them until over a week after their stated date. They said I offered many impressive skills, but they were choosing someone who closely matched their requirements. My reaction was, why did they interview me then? I wasn't impressed.
Hr calls and sets up appointment. Then you go in and a manger will sit with you for a couple minutes asking questions. After the process is over they will basically hire you on the spot if your qualifies and you have to take a drug test and dot evaluation at a lab paid for by FedEx.
