      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Forvis Mazars Group (Londres, Inglaterra) in Nov 2022

      Interview

      - Application form with fairly straight forward questions - Fairly straight forward online assessment including numeracy and strengths questions - Fairy straight forward telephone interview - Difficult assessment centre with group exercise, case study, individual presentation to be prepared in advance ,reassessment of numeracy test and interview. Interview is more difficult than telephone interview with many questions asking “tell me a time when”. This is particularly challenging for graduate roles with limited prior experience as I felt as though I kept repeating the same examples. Group exercise was challenging as you have to discuss potential Mazars initiatives that can be adopted and rank them in order with others. While the task itself isn’t that difficult, candidates are assessed on their ability to interact with others to make decisions with the assessors watching the interactions. This feels very unnatural and in my opinion is not an accurate way of measuring team-working ability in practice. I have not received feedback on my rejection yet even though the rejection was quickly given less than 2 days after the assessment centre but it’s been nearly a week since the rejection, I will update this section of the review when I receive feedback. I don’t know exactly where I went wrong as I followed tips from the coaching call including: professional language in case study, praise other members contributions in group work and smile etc. Overall I would only recommend applying if you are a naturally confident person and strong communicator. Technical knowledge is not important for the application process. I have a 2:1 accountancy degree and this is my second year failing at the assessment centre stage despite extensive preparation. The staff at Mazars throughout the recruitment process have all been very friendly but the process itself doesn’t seem very inclusive if you disabilities or are naturally just a quieter person.
