I applied online. The process took 7 months. I interviewed at Grant Thornton (Houston, TX) in Mar 2023
Interview
I applied about 6-7 months prior to getting an interview. I had 2 30-minute interviews back to back, one with a partner and senior manager in the audit service line. Both interviews were easy going! They made me feel comfortable which helped a lot with my nervousness. They informed me about their personal career track, GT company, the Houston area in general. Very conversational friendly. Didn’t have the pressure of feeling like you were being interviewed.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Grant Thornton in Sep 2022
Interview
I was contacted by a former manager to interview for a consulting position. I was planning on moving back to the southeast (where he lives and where we worked together previously) from the bay area in about a year, so having a remote position would let me move without looking for a new job. The interview was pretty standard, and I got an offer. They offered 165 base, which I knew wasn't the top of their range. I asked for more because of my cost of living, but they said they would only do 165 since I was moving to the southeast. My plan to move was only speculative at that point, and I only mentioned it because my history with the manager. I felt I should be paid based upon my current situation since nothing else was certain, and we could adjust it when I moved, but they disagreed.
The interview was pretty laid back. Not very many technical questions. It is more so just trying to get to know you as a person as most of the job skills you will learn on the job.
