I had a great experience meeting with the Director, who was both professional and engaging. The interview process was well-structured, and it was a pleasure to have such a constructive conversation. However, one aspect of G&T’s interview approach could be improved. The inclusion of accountants at the same level in the interview process can sometimes be counterproductive. If an interviewee demonstrates stronger technical skills and knowledge than their peer, it may create an unintended sense of competition or discomfort. To navigate this dynamic, candidates may find it beneficial to acknowledge and appreciate the contributions of these accountants rather than inadvertently positioning themselves as a threat. For a global organisation, certain processes and mindsets still feel somewhat traditional, and conversations reflect a resistance to change. While the company’s reputation is undoubtedly valuable, modernising its approach could further enhance its appeal.
