I applied through college or university. I interviewed at HSBC
Interview
They ask me to talk about myself and my professional experiences. They also checked my motivation to the job position and also checked my technical knowledge about bonds and Fixed Income. Good experience.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at HSBC (New York, NY) in Oct 2018
Interview
This is one of the worst hiring processes I have ever been through. You submit your application through their online portal which is confusing and not very well created. Their website is also very confusing and it's difficult to apply for what you want to. It's very glitchy and takes forever. Then, you get directed to do an online assessment (like 50 mins, GMAT-style questions). If you pass that, then you have to do ANOTHER online assessment. This time it's more behavioral, but still requires you to do multiple choice questions and think quickly against a timer that is always in your face to make it more annoying. If I remember, when the timer is at like 30 seconds left, it makes an annoying pop-up that covers your screen as you are trying to finish your last question. There are also several questions where you get recorded using your webcam. I had major trouble getting this to work on my brand-new modern laptop. Also, there were at least 2 questions where the question was worded incorrectly or in a misleading manner, making answering correctly difficult. Revenue is mistaken for net profit. Once you get through all this unnecessary garbage, which I thought I performed quite well on, the real interviews start. After going through all this, they didn't even offer me a first interview with no explanation when I asked. The videos they were showing about the firm in the interview process made everyone working their seem like real tools or robots with no personality. It was an obviously doctored view of their own firm that probably doesn't match the reality. This horrible experience leads me to warn others not to waste their time.
