Interview
The recruiting process starts with your typical CV submission followed by what they call a Job Simulation. This is a hybrid of an online psychometric assessment and a HireVue. Job Sim is almost entirely composed of situational judgment questions, mostly rank and slider. 3-5 questions will be live-recorded answers, 2-3 min response times, still situational judgment but will require you to highlight your personal strengths, which should be in line with HSBC values (research required). Final question will be a commercial awareness question typically requiring you to pitch an asset class or industry as an investment for a client based on provided information and your own macro knowledge. If you pass minimum benchmark on the Job Sim, you will be invited to a Virtual Experience Day, which is just an online AC, consisting of 3-rounds of 40 minute interviews with bankers. Typical S&T interview prep here (commercial/macro awareness, technical knowledge on different products an asset classes, brain teasers).
