Extremely rude interviewer, very bad experience.
I had applied approximately 4 weeks ago if not more and completely forgot about the job itself.
The university recruiter reached out first asking me to send my updated resume and such with rating of most comfortable languages to code in.
Next we scheduled an interview with Hiring manager.
The initial interview was scheduled to be a phone screen to discuss my resume. The interviewer was extremely rude, he was 10 minutes late to the meeting. he joins for 5 min says he is stuck in another meeting and leaves stating he will be back in 5. 7 minutes go by and he joins saying there were only 15 minutes left so he needs to reschedule to do a good interview. No apologies or remorse for wasting time. I agree to reschedule for the next day. The meeting title is changed to intern even tho nowhere in the job description does it mention it for interns. It states it is full-time. He is again 5 minutes late and doesn't apologize. he asked one question: tell me about yourself. then he asks if this was the first interview and if anyone had explained the position prior I said no. he explains it in two sentences and then asks a coding question to get vowels from a file in java. I run it and it's done. the second question was a puzzle question about two jars. He could not for the life of him explain the problem. he kept changing the question as I solved it because he couldn't grasp it himself. (I gave multiple edge cases to tackle a general idea to approach it ...)he said not to approach it from a CS point of view but puzzle (aren't all CS problems puzzles )Both questions were completely unrelated to the job where I was expected to be asked about network and routers and protocols.
After the interview is done he leaves with no thank you or anything. just bye
I would not go for a second interview based on the rudeness and incompetence of the interviewer. I have conducted multiple interviews at small and fortune 500 companies and FAANG companies. I have never been so disrespected in time and treated so unprofessionally about the role. this is a shame to the company and I wouldn't even consider applying again because of the unprofessionalism.
