I was called a couple weeks after I applied. The initial phone call was the phone interview, not that long. Mostly informative, reiterating the days needed. I was asked when and where I worked last. We then made an appointment for an in-person interview. This particular location is a Conrad Hilton, so the breakfast "Table" area serves as the bar. Due to its location and short shifts: 5:30-9:30 (I can stay later if busy, if I want too), the pay is $14/hr. The only food service (which I would prepare) at this time are chicken quesadillas. The hope/expectation is to sell 2/shift. Menu/food service might expand as well as having an actual bar built. I brought along my SS card & ID to expedite the hiring process. I was asked about anything of concern in my background. I was forthright - I have misdemeanors, even a misdemeanor assault, which I was worried about. I explained what happened. He didn't think there would be concern and also told me it is up to their discretion anyway if they hire you. So, just be honest, even if you have a felony. Tell them what happened. I submitted the background information to the company that does them (Sterling) on a Sunday. The results/approval were sent to my hiring manager (the executive chef) on Friday morning. I had to do onboarding "paperwork" online. There is an onboarding video I have to watch w/tests (4-5 hrs). I will train for 3 days, then go to work!
