Interview
Interview process was shambolic. I interviewed in London over the phone, over video call and in person once.
For the video call I was made to wait 30 mins whilst three people discussed in Chinese. I politely smiled and waited out the time. For the remainder of the interview I was asked very basic questions - it was clear nobody interviewing me, particularly senior management, fully understood the engineering area I was interviewing for (witheld as it may be too obvious to identify me). Throughout all my interviews language difficulties were a recurring theme.
In person I had a similar experience, basic questions, a brief runthrough of my CV and some unnecessarily adversarial statements, perhaps due to language difficulties (e.g. "it looks like your previous project was not successful" or "that doesn't sound interesting") Sometimes the interviewers comments were completely unrelated to our current discussion.
From what I've written above it may sound like I am bitter from rejection... however I received an offer from Huawei and a very generous offer at that including an excellent base salary and sign-on bonus (> 20% of base) with the promise of a yearly bonus too (10-20% of base). I turned down the offer because there were too many red flags along the way. The general company reviews on Glassdoor give the impression of a China-centric company with a toxic work culture and little appreciation for operations and divisions outside of China. Unfortunately every part of the interview process confirmed this for me.
Overall it is a real shame as Huawei are clearly growing quickly and are ready to pay well. I think management and HR, particularly in London should think about the kind of image they project during interviews.
there will be 3 steps: the first is qualification interview by Human resource Dept Expert, the second step is technical interview by business dept, and the last one will be final interview by human resource director.
I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Huawei Technologies (Nairobi) in Jan 2013

Verbal interview with questions that probed my understanding of GSM networks and OSI network model? They also questioned my ability to work in team and ability to be on call at odd hours
