Interview
Waste of time. You can do better.
Recruiter be little you and your skills when it comes to negotiating the salary.
My interview process -
1. I got call from the recruiter after applying in their portal. Asked me my availability on a date.
2. I attended interview. Two technical rounds. Average questions of core Java and some frameworks.
3. I cleared HireVue exam next day.
4. Recruiter called me, I had HR round. Asked about my previous experience. When I was explaining she was like - ‘oh, good! Nice!!’ When it’s comes to my expected salary she was like - ‘how come? I mean, your profile is below average’. Then she gave me a figure that way below than what I expected. That’s not even 15% higher than my current salary. She asked me to take time and think about it. I was like - ‘At least, it’s a good company, I can make amends in my salary expectation’.
5. Next day I sent her mail about my decision, thanking her for giving me time to think about it and requested for offer letter.
6. I got call after two days from her, saying that this position is already filled up. I can’t do anything now.
Waste of time and efforts. You can do better.
I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at J.P. Morgan (Mumbai) in Apr 2016
Interview
I participated in the Code for Good hackathon by JP Morgan as a 3rd year engineering student. It was indeed an aggrandizing experience . However I had no clue that this was one of their mediums to hire new grads. We came across several instances where the mentors would come speak to us about what we were building and talk about the approach we were taking to solve the problem. Little did we know that this was a part of their recruitment process. The enrollment to the hackato itself was a 3 step process - 1. Resume screening , Online Assessment , Telephone interview. After 5 days of the hackathon I received an invite to interview with them at their office which was a purely technical interview. I was made an offer to join the firm within a week.
