The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Kaiser Permanente (Oakland, CA) in Feb 2010
Interview
I was referred in by a friend who works at Kaiser. Got an initial phone screening interview from HR, then a follow up call to schedule with the hiring manager. Met in person for the initial interview with the hiring manager and was asked a series of written questions. It was pretty impersonal. Got the feeling they'd already found their person and were just going through the motions.
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Kaiser Permanente (San Diego, CA) in Dec 2010
Interview
Many hoops to jump through. A series of interviews, thorough background check, and a drug (urine) test.
The process for me consisted of three interviews, one with the recruiter, one with the supervisor-to-be, and the last one with the hiring manager (Director). A long, drawn-out process. They conduct the most intensive hiring process I've ever seen for a company, aside from government positions.

Question 1
I don't recall specifics, but the interview with the hiring manager consisted of mostly work-related questions directly associated with the position to be filled.
The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Kaiser Permanente (Oakland, CA) in Oct 2011
Interview
Overall, I had 9 interviews-- 3 times on site (some with multiple people) and 4 phone interviews over more than a month. However, other than a simple notification that I didn't get the position (second choice) I could not reach anyone for feedback or a conversation. I appreciate the process but it was rude!

Question 1
Rather than a question, I was put on the spot to participate in a brainstorming session and then present the ideas to an audience of 15 people.
