I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Kroger in Feb 2012
Interview
I know all Kroger stores are different, but the interview was very unprofessional. The person who interviewed me seem quite awkward, and more nervous than I was. Didn't ask me any standard interview questions such as 'what could you bring to this company?' or 'why work for us?' He pretty much went over my work history and asked what I did and etc. Called up the manager for the department that I was interviewing for and had her meet me. Pretty much asked me how much I could lift, told me about the job duties, and asked me if I knew what 'sense of urgency' meant. I told her and she seemed relieved that I knew since no one else that currently works with her did. I mean, really?
After that he told me when to come in for the drug test. A week later I went in and did it and signed the stuff for my background check. Told me they'd call me once everything was done. A week later they did but I had to retake the drug test (saliva test). So retook it and he told me he'd call me in a couple days with results. Never did. I'm assuming my test came back inconclusive again (I don't do drugs, but I do have a lot issues with my mouth so idk if that could have affected the test results) or they just forgot about me so they didn't call. I didn't bother to call because after all I've heard from people that work/ed at Kroger, I don't really have a desire to work for them. They could have still at least called me and told me my results regardless. Very unprofessional place.
