I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Marriott International (Augusta, GA) in Jun 2018
Interview
Marriott International was built on a solid foundation of core principles that include taking care of their associates. Time and time again Mr. Marriott himself has stated that he firmly believes in taking good care of his employees so that they will take care of hotel guests, who will then keep returning to the hotel. Marriott has THE BEST benefits to offer employees, at least at corporate owned and operated hotels
However, this Marriott in Augusta, Georgia is franchised owned and believes that the one perk of getting discounts on rooms should make up for lack of healthcare coverage and poor monetary compensation.
I was told in my initial interview that the position I was applying for handled all of their VIP clients and therefore needed extra scrutiny. I was put through two lengthy interviews. I was under the impression that the position was a full time evening position with benefits that had a minimum of $10/hour starting salary.
After two interviews I was informed that this particular Marriott is a franchise and the only “benefits” offered was not healthcare but room rate discounts. The HR Rep said she considered the substantial discount “part of my salary.” I was also offered a measly $8/hour. I’m not sure why they would pay someone who was in charge of their “VIP customers” ONLY $8/hour. Why waste the time with multiple interviews for someone that will make minimum wage?!
The HR Rep in my second interview was drastically unprepared. She did not even have a copy of the job description in front of her and had to print one off her computer during the interview.
I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Marriott International (Albany, NY) in Aug 2014
Interview
It's as simple as any ordinary job interview. I got called to come in for an interview a week after applying online and the interview was spot on. I was offered the job after the brief interview.
