I applied for this position online, which included a fairly long skills test, where you were asked mutiple choice questions pertaining to how you would handle customer service situations. I also called the location and asked about the position. The operations manager called me back the same day and did a short phone interview (one question; "Why do you want to work in the hospitality industry"). He then invited me for an interview the next day.
I interviewed the operations manager, who then went and talked to the General Manager of the location. The GM came out and did a more thorough and intensive interview. During the second half of the interview, the GM asked me to interview him. This was so that he could understand my interest in working for the Marriott culture as a whole. It seemed to me that the answers that they were most interested in were the ones where I could reveal my personality and ability to follow up and care about customers in a genuine way.
Overall, the experience was very positive, even though (as all interviews are to an extent) the process was nervewracking. Both the GM and the Operations Manager were very professional and friendly. After working here for close to a month, I find that the location is run very well and the staff are treated like a well functioning family. I enjoy working here. It is a perfect place for learning about the hospitality industry.
