Interview
Applied online without a referral and interviewed with Meta (Menlo Park, CA) in April 2022.
I just applied directly online and heard back after ~3 weeks and had the recruiter phone interview in the same week. In the following 4 weeks, I had all the other interviews. I would say the interview experience was a mixed bag, like some of the interviewers were so nice that they took the time to ask how I was doing etc., but some of them made me feel like I was wasting their time. The main resource that I used to prep for the interviews besides doing a bunch of mock interviews with some pm friends and strangers was Product Alliance's Meta course.

Question 1
1. What retention metrics would you use if you were the PM for Instagram Stories?
2. Say you're the PM of a brand-new startup and are building a new product to help customers shop for cheese. How would you design this product?
And pls 100% make sure to always have multiple good answers for the behavioral questions. I got asked "tell me about a time when you realized you lacked a key skill and worked to acquire it" a couple times.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Meta in Jun 2022
Interview
The interviews themselves were ok, and pretty standard issue as far as what you find on the internet when searching for Facebook PM interviews - product sense & execution in round 1, the same + behavioral in round 2, with round 2 having more follow up questions than round 1.
The recruiter and post-interview experience, unfortunately, was abysmal. I've anecdotally seen people receive a decision within about a business week. I spent one month, following up with my recruiter multiple times with no response, only to be asked for additional work background information, with the promise of an interview "debrief". After providing requested info, recruiter disappeared for another week, only to come back with a generic rejection email. Follow up email requesting any detail around the circumstances of the decision was met with silence.
None of this would have felt so negative if I had received any one of the following:
- Any kind of generic response from my recruiter while I waited nervously for a full month, to assure me I was still under consideration
- No implication or promise of a "debrief", which could reasonably have been implied as being on track for an offer
- A response, even a "sorry, I can't provide more information", after getting the no
Main takeaway for me is - YMMV, big time, depending on the recruiter you get. Unfortunately, mine was either was too busy, didn't care, or has no clue how to manage candidate relationships.

Question 1
What are the two most important attributes in a product manager?
Feedback for an interview is the process by which interviewers take detailed notes about a candidate's answers and qualities to share with their hiring team. They take notes directly after the interview and refine them throughout the day as they have more time to reflect on the interview.
